You Can Go Home Again

Last Wednesday I drove to Dallas for the wedding of one of my best friends. I was honored that he and his new bride asked me to help preform the ceremony with another friend. The wedding went off with out a problem. There were some great “poinient” moments within the service along with some funny ones.

As the wedding party was exiting after the service, my co-minister leaned over and in a hushed tone said, “Great job!” I replied, “Like budah!” Yeah, our mics were still on! Thankfully, his wife said that the music covered up our conversation!

At the reception I was able to catch up with a handfull of high school friends. Everyone looked beautiful and handsome (respectfully) and they all seemed to be doing well.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend.

  1. Hey Micheal, just another funny wedding sound story. I ran the sound for a wedding and gave the preacher the wireless microphone to put on earlier that day. The preacher was sitting in a pew talking with his wife and another woman. I was bored, as it was still about 45 min. before the wedding and everyone was dressed and ready but just waiting around. So I politely walked up to the preacher and wanted to check that he had his mic on. I interrupted his conversation and asked, “Are you turned on?” Of course I knew in my mind that I was asking about the microphone. He, his wife, and the other woman gave me the strangest look like I had asked a VERY personal question. Then I realized what I had said and the way they took the question. Needless to say, I was extremely embarrassed and realy never lived that moment down with that preacher.

I love to hear other funny stories like yours. But, I’m positive that you did a great job co-officiating the wedding, Micheal.

  2. Thanks for your story nearmo. That did come out like a VERY personal question! Hahaha. I wish that I had other stories but everything went so smooth. Even the groomsman and the bridesmaids were just laid-back, easy-going people. The whole weekend was a treat. Very much like the last wedding I officiated!

    Thanks nearmo.

  3. Was a wonderful service and you did a great job Rev. Felker.
Loved that they took communion together and prayed like they did.. As I stood there I was thinking about the prayer that I would say to my wife, as I might say in some distant galaxy far far away… Funny, my prayer sounded more like a lockerroom speech and ended with Let’s Go Kick some >>> Needless to say, I’m sure that will need some revision for future use.
Good as always to see you and LOVE the Cash, walking the line bit.
