What happened with the quarantine? Desmond certainly believed (as do the "Others" make a convincing show) though it has been implied by the plot that there may have never been any disease (just a show for the remaning Dharma employees after the purge). TP:The polar bear question was answered in season three, remember the cages Kate and Sawyer were kept in? It was a polar bear testing facility maned by Dharma (while they appear to be a corporate company it is still curious WHY they were testing polar bears).
